Arcana MCP for Claude and ChatGPT

Connect Arcana to Claude or ChatGPT using the Arcana MCP server.

Overview / Server Description

The Arcana Model Context Protocol (MCP) server lets you work with Arcana directly from Claude or ChatGPT, so you can query portfolios, pull risk data, and surface research notes in plain language.

Setup instructions

Claude

  1. Open the Arcana listing in the Claude directory: https://claude.ai/directory/arcana.

  2. Click "Connect" and sign in to Arcana.

  3. In any chat, click "+", hover over "Connectors", and toggle "Arcana" on.

On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an organization Owner may need to add Arcana first. See the FAQ below.

To set a default portfolio and risk model, tell Claude: "For the Arcana MCP, always assume my portfolio is [book name] and my risk model is Arcana Global, unless I say otherwise. Remember this across sessions." Memory must be turned on in Claude's settings for this to carry across chats.

ChatGPT

  1. Go to "Settings", then "Plugins", and turn on "Developer Mode".

  2. Return to the "Plugins" page, click "+" in the top right, and set "Name" to "Arcana".

  3. Enter https://app.arcana.io/mcp in the "Connection" box and set "Authentication" to "OAuth".

  4. Check "I understand and want to continue", then click "Create".

  5. Approve the OAuth login when redirected.

  6. In a new chat, click "+", then "More", and select "Arcana".

Authentication details

The Arcana MCP is authenticated using OAuth to connect to your Arcana account. When you add the connector, you're redirected to the Arcana login page to sign in (SSO supported if your firm has it configured) and authorize the chat platform to call Arcana on your behalf. The chat platform does not see your Arcana password.

Permissions inherit from your Arcana account: you only see portfolios, positions, custom data, and research notes you already have access to in the Arcana web app.

MCP must be enabled for your Arcana account. If it isn't, contact your account representative or email [email protected].

FAQ

How can I get the Arcana connector in Claude if I'm not allowed to add my own connectors?

Ask your Claude organization Owner to add Arcana for your team:

  1. Go to "Organization settings", then "Connectors" (claude.ai/admin-settings/connectors).

  2. Click "Browse connectors" at the bottom.

  3. Find "Arcana" and click "Add to your team".

Once it's added, follow the Claude setup steps above to connect your own account.

Can Arcana connect to Claude Cowork?

Yes. Once you've connected Arcana in Claude, it's also available in Cowork. In a Cowork session, click "+" and toggle "Arcana" on.
